A high pressure shower head will normally use far more water than an ordinary one to give you a really good and satisfying shower. At least that is the way it used to be. It is now possible to fit a high pressure shower head that can actually save water and save you money on the fuel that is used to heat up the shower water.
What we are talking about here is a low flow high pressure shower head which uses less than two and a half gallons of water each minute. A high pressure shower head which is not of the low flow type will use at least twice this amount of water which means that it costs twice as much to run. The way the low flow high pressure shower head works is to aerate, or mix air with the water as it comes out of the shower. This gives a much faster flow and far more shower pressure, for less water than you would be using with a standard high pressure shower head. You can save as much as thirty percent of your annual water usage with a correctly fitted low flow high pressure shower head.
There are some special models of low flow shower that will enable you to turn a switch and move to one and fourth fifths gallons of water per minute of usage without affecting the quality of the shower flow. The lower the amount of water that goes through the shower per minute, the lower the fuel costs to heat it will be, so it is not just water costs that you are saving by fitting one of these.
A high pressure shower head comes in hand held or fixed versions and the cost is likely to be just under thirty dollars, right up to a couple of hundred dollars, depending on what you prefer and what suits your budget. You will have a choice of buying a high pressure shower head with a chrome head, a stainless steel, or even a brass finish, plus many more, but the final choice depends on what you think matches your bathroom the best.
There are also what are called rain shower heads and these are a high pressure shower head with a diameter of about nine inches across and these mix air with the water and still save you money on water and heating costs. A high pressure shower head like this gives the effect of standing in warm rain as you take a shower but still only uses two and a half gallons of water per minute while the shower is in use.
A high pressure shower head can save you money all round so it is worth looking around at what is available and what benefits it will have for you when replacing your shower head. Cost need not be a problem because there are a number of options to choose from and there should be something to suit everyone’s pocket.
